Debris Ignites Under Hood of Forwarder

Clear Debris from Engine Compartment

Fire started under the hood of forwarder while it was travelling along a forwarding trail.  It was quickly extinguished by the fire suppression system.  Damage was sustained to some wiring components.

Debris had built up under the hood and was ignited by the heat from the exhaust manifold.  Debris was not being cleaned out on a regular basis.

Recommendations to Prevent a Recurrence

Preventative maintenance; inspect and clean any debris from around the engine compartment on a regular basis.
